This paper presents a new approach to optimizing the operation of the green tire storage sys tem in a tire factory. The tire building and curing processes are crucial to tire production yields, and they are executed according to a production schedule from the Manufacturing Execution System (MES). The green tire storage system is located in between these processes and acts as a buffer to manage production fluctuations. The proposed operation rules for the green tire stor age system monitor real-time manufacturing and storage status, alerting the building process to adjust product type as necessary. Through discrete event simulations, the performance of these proposed operation rules is evaluated and compared with existing methods. The tire factory sim ulation models were formulated using the C-DEVS (Conditional-DEVS) formalism and have been implemented. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm improves production yields by mitigating green tire starvation and blocking issues.
