Recently, research has actively examined applications of virtual reality technology in the field of safety education training to effectively respond to risk factors in abnormal situations. In this paper, we propose a virtual environment scenario design method based on the industrial secure module (ISM) for safety education training for dyeing machines and tenter machines, which are the core facilities of a textile mill. First, by analyzing the working environment of the actual textile process, the accident risks according to the process are classified for each type to iden- tify the cause of the accident and its potential impact. Based on this, after creating an ISM doc- ument consisting of 172 items, the types and causes of accidents are linked according to the flow of the process to graphically illustrate the scenarios necessary for the establishment of a virtual environment. Finally, using this scenario, we build a virtual experience environment for safety education training in a textile mill. The ISM-based scenario design method can be effec- tively applied to the development of various education training programs.
