Abstract
This article proposes a novel dual-band bidirectional microstrip antenna with an identical right-handed circularly polarized sense for a CubeSat system application. The asymmetrical arrow-ended cross slot embedded only on the ground layer is dually utilized as the backward slot antenna at 1.575 GHz and the perturbing element of the microstrip antenna with forward radiations at 2.23 GHz. The implemented antenna successfully demonstrates dual-band bidirectional right-handed circular polarizations in good agreement with the simulation results for the global positioning system and the satellite telemetry of a CubeSat system.
