Alternative Abstract
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of various surface treatments on the shear bond strength between two different types of zirconia(3 mol% yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal; 3Y-TZP, 5 mol% partially stabilized zirconia; 5Y-PSZ) and resin cements.
Materials and Methods : Two types of zirconia(3Y-TZP and 5Y-PSZ) were fabricated with a fully sintered size of 14.0 x 14.0 x 2.0 mm3, 40 each. A total of 80 zirconia specimens were sequentially polished using 400, 600, and 800 grit silicon carbide paper and subsequently embedded in epoxy resin. The specimens were categorized into four groups: control, aluminum oxide particles sandblasting, primer, and aluminum oxide particles sandblasting & primer. Resin cement was used to attach a cylindrical resin to the zirconia surface which had been treated with the various methods(control, aluminum oxide particles sandblasting, primer, aluminum oxide particles sandblasting & primer). The specimens were stored in distilled water at 37°C for 24 hours, and a test was conducted to measure the shear bond strength. A two-way ANOVA was utilized to examine statistical differences and interactions. Subsequently, a post-hoc analysis was carried out using the Dunnett T3 test.
Results: As a result of two-way ANOVA, there was no significant difference in shear bonding strength between zirconia types (P > 0.05). There was a significant correlation in the aluminum oxide particles sandblasting, primer, and aluminum oxide particles sandblasting & primer group (P < 0.05). Dunnett T3 post-test showed that regardless of the types of zirconia, the shear bonding strength was followed as : aluminum oxide particles sandblasting & primer > Primer > aluminum oxide particles sandblasting > control group (P<0.05).
Conclusion: There was no difference in shear bond strength between the types of zirconia. The shear bonding strength was the highest in the aluminum oxide particles sandblasting & primer group.
