Alternative Abstract
Education in Ghana has made great strides in both quality and quantity since the Republic of Ghana gained independence on 6^(th) March 1957. However, vocational education in Ghana is faced with a number of difficulties. Because of the limited facility to accommodate the increasing student population , many classrooms are overcrowded. This results in the operation of the shift system. To improve vocational education teachers’ salary should be raised, and better support given to private vocational schools. There are real needs for revolutionary improvements in the teaching methods and materials. To provide solution to these and other problems, Ghana government should increase the financial investment in Technical Vocational Education and Training systems. This will enable the sector to contribute effectively to national human resource development, which is so vital for Ghana’s economic development.
