Its main focus is on new developments in genome bioinformatics and computational biology. Two distinct sections within the journal - Discovery Notes and Application Notes - focus on shorter papers; the former reporting biologically interesting discoveries using computational methods, the latter exploring the applications used for experiments. Bioinformatics provides a forum for the exchange of information in the fields of computational molecular biology and post-genome bioinformatics, with emphasis on the documentation of new algorithms and databases that allows the progress of bioinformatics and biomedical research in a significant manner. Upon submission you will be asked to provisionally select one of the following categories for your manuscript: /// Genome analysis /// Sequence analysis /// Phylogenetics /// Structural bioinformatics /// Gene expression /// Genetic and population analysis /// Systems biology /// Data and text mining /// Databases and ontologies /// Bioimage informatics
