dc.description.abstract | Accessibility is a fundamental right for people with disabilities. It is the duty of society to ensure equal opportunities and strong participation in all aspects of society, including education, employment, and cultural activities. Placing people with disabilities side by side with those who are considered ‘normal’ individuals and perceiving them as ‘different’ or ‘wrong’ is a viewpoint that should be clearly rejected. So, this paper is concerned with a solution that enables people with disabilities who have difficulty using their hands, or who are unable to use their hands at all, to use a PC. For this purpose, it proposes a low-cost laptop-based webcam system designed to enable real-time interaction with a computer through eye movements. The system aims to enable people with physical limitations to communicate freely and can be particularly beneficial for patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and mobility impairments who prefer to use their eyes rather than their hands. | - |
