This paper presents a circuit design and control methods of an electric vehicle (EV) battery charger using a traction motor and inverter. There are various power electronics based components in the EV for example traction motor, inverter, low-voltage \textdc/\textdc converter and on-board charger (OBC). The proposed power circuit integrates the traction inverter and battery charger. The reconfigured inverter circuit allows fast charging operation by its high-power rating components. In addition, the manufacturer can get extra space and save weight and cost because the conventional OBC is eliminated. The control method for the battery charging mode is introduced including a novel low-order harmonic compensation method. The experimental results are presented to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed power circuit and its control strategies.-
