Abstract
To prepare for digital transformation and the era of AI, Korea’s Ministry of Education announced the implementation of AI digital textbooks in English, mathematics, and computer science in elementary and secondary schools starting in 2025. AIDT aims at personalized/customized learning through AI-based learning analytics. AIDT can be an effective alternative tool to provide personalized/ customized learning in addition to traditional English classrooms. However, in the first year of implementation, models for effectively integrating AIDT into the classroom are still rare. Since instructional approaches and models are crucial for successful implementation and student learning, the purpose of this study is to present effective instructional models using AIDT. As a research method, the study analyzed the characteristics and specifics of AIDT and then applied them to the teaching models based on the characteristics of AIDT and the communicative language teaching approach. This study presents three models, task-based, project-based and problem-based language teaching, which English teachers can use in their teaching with AIDT. The models can be used as guidelines for teachers to integrate AIDT into their classrooms.
