Alternative Abstract
This thesis proposes a new modulation method to reduce switching loss in hybrid dual inverters with a common power source. When compared to other dual inverters, a dual inverter with a common power source generates a zero-sequence current (ZSC). The ZSC increases switching loss and torque ripple, deteriorating driving performance. If a six-step modulation method to reduce switching loss is applied, the ZSV and the ZSC are generated by switching. When proposed modulation method 1 is used to reduce the ZSV, ZSC, and switching loss for the hybrid dual inverter, the number of inverter 2 switches is doubled, and the inverter 2 switching loss is concentrated. The switching concentration maximizes the effect of reducing switching losses. The proposed modulation method 2 reduced the double switching to 1.33 times compared to the proposed modulation method 1. The proposed modulation methods reduce the ZSC and switching loss for hybrid dual inverter. The effectiveness of the proposed modulation methods for the OEW-IPMSM fed by a hybrid dual inverter was validated by the simulation and experimental results.
