Alternative Abstract
ABSTRACT

Despite the soaring unemployment in Cameroon, which is the major determinant of a country's standard of living, most citizens still live above the minimum wage set by the country’s government. However, as the advancement in digital technology emerges and spreads all over the nation, more and more people are benefiting from the opportunity that comes with it.
The purpose is to investigate ways to alleviate poverty in developing countries, with Cameroon as a case study using digitalization as a possible tool. Unfortunately, the literature on digitalization as a tool to alleviate poverty in developing or developed countries considers that digitalization would completely alleviate poverty. However, specific parameters need to be implemented for this to work.
A questionnaire-based survey was used to obtain the required data, answering questions on the critical parameters in which digitalization has impacted the standard of living of Cameroonians, which are ICT in culture and ICT in government ICT in agriculture, digital advancements in financial technology, digital advances in social media digital advancement in microfinance digitalization in education, information dissemination and social inclusion. We applied many statistical data analysis approaches. In addition, reliability and internal consistency were checked using factor analyses. Finally, we use logistic regression to determine the relationship between the parameters and their effect on poverty reduction.
Digital advancement in education. Digital advancement in microfinance, ICT in government, and ICT in education were founded to significantly reduce poverty in Cameroon. However, some insignificant parameters are highly probable. Justifications for this are discussed in the thesis.
However, the impact of digitalization on poverty is neither direct nor immediate. Therefore, we claim that Cameroon's central and local authorities and civil society must consider these significant parameters as a critical element of their broad development strategies.
