Alternative Abstract
This study gives a global description of the Colombian energy system, its history, crisis, and current status, as well as some of the close plans that the government and authorities have in the energy field, to meet the goals established in the National Energy Plan and the declared Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) under the Agreement of Paris and the road to net-zero emissions. In addition, a reference model of the national energy system was made and that allowed simulating one of the renewable energy implementation scenarios proposed by the government in the Reference Expansion Plan for Generation and Transmission 2016-2030, to see the impact that such implementation could have on the future energy panorama of the country, especially in the achievement of the main objective of the National Energy Plan, related to the diversification of the energy generation basket and the reduction of CO2 emissions. Thus, the greatest contribution made with this work is to demonstrate that by using the GCAM-EML software, which is under development at the University of Ajou, it is possible to foresee different scenarios that allow identifying efficient methods for the real implementation of transversal projects; in which both the aspects of energy generation sources and technologies, as well as the economic aspects associated with it, are considered. Likewise, it was confirmed that the national energy basket can be diversified with the implementation and increase in the participation of non-conventional renewable energy sources, to finally abet in the reduction of CO2 emissions and contribute to the scope of the proposed NDC.
