Alternative Abstract
Hydrazine is a transparent liquid with a molecular structure of N2H4 that is useful in industrial field, such as synthesis of pharmaceuticals, pesticides and textile dyes and also used component of a rocket fuel. However, hydrazine is a toxic and carcinogenic molecule regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Fluorescence technology which has several advantages, such as convenient measurement, machine-independence, and short detection time, had been introduced. A number of fluorogenic probes, which can discrimination hydrazine, were reported. However, previous study of hydrazine detection systems had been concentrated on using a single probe. Therefore, we focus on an array system to increase the hydrazine discrimination power. Herein, we developed SF-Azo 01, 02, 03 and 04 using the Seoul-Fluor (9-aryl-1,2-dihydropyrrolo[3,4-b]indolizine-3-one) system and azo moiety, which can be a quencher and chemo-reactive site. SF-Azo shows significant fluorescent enhancement and selectivity upon hydrazine. Furthermore, SF-Azo was applied in cellulose paper to develop a fluorescent array system and this system demonstrate successful hydrazine recognition and assaying hydrazine concentration.
