Alternative Abstract
This paper presents the path that Algeria is taking to access into the world trade organization, and what are the challenges that will face after accesion. Algeria committed to the process of integration in the multilateral trading system since June 1987, it became the longest negotiation period in the WTO history . It is clear that the globalization is one of the most major event and phenomena that characterize our lives in different aspects: economic, political, social, cultural, environmental, etc, and with the passage of time, we can observe more integration of companies, markets and free up a lot of economies, growing flows of labor, goods and services, capital, technology, information and eliminate protectionist policies and demolish customs restrictions. Algeria as one of the developing countries are seeking to confront this growing movement of globalization and deal with its mechanisms to ensure a good positioning and adjustment for the national interests, at a time when there is less talk about the sovereignty of the nation state in the presence of this phenomenon. Algeria's file to access into the WTO remains one of the X-Files For Algerians, like the partnership with the European Union, and since 1987, Algeria is seeking to adapt its legislation with the international law, such as the ratification of the industrial property laws and opening the services sector and appropriate its customs system, and being aware that these measures should not damage the national economy and domestic production. The paper is divided into five chapters : Chapter 1 provides an introduction of the thesis including statement of the problem and literature Review. Chapter 2 provides a general view of algerian economy structure, concerning the transformation from state control to free market economy, the Privatisation Policy and foreign direct investment . Chapter 3 discusses algeria and the Free Trade Agreements as a preparation to access into the WTO. Chapter 4 shows a comparative study between Algeria, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran and discusses the challenges that are facing Algeria to accomplish the accession into the WTO, such as tariffs barriers, intellectual property rights, national treatment and the subsidy system. Chapter 5 is a conclusion of this study including the recommendation.
