Alternative Abstract
The title of this study is to analyze the effect of poverty on the abuse of children within the African family setting which has resulted to structural conditions rather than other psychological situations in the South West Region of Cameroon as stated in my hypothesis. The main aim or objective of this study is to find out to what extent poverty has an influence on child abuse thus exposing the ills of child abuse; human rights and the future that waits future generation without a violation of it, the role of the United Nations and my personal opinion about the whole issue. Data was collected from books, journals, articles, interviews and phone calls, with the use of qualitative descriptive method with random selection. However my findings proved that till date child abuse within African families still exists and those who were abused in their childhood still relive each moment. In making recommendations, the policy of inclusion should be considered any child under 14years of age seen hawking should be reported to the forces of law and order and secondly to avoid hazardous work for child in institutions like agriculture, skilled labor should be the priority and most importantly, banning children from taking part in the military assigned in war zones
