dc.description.alternativeAbstractThis project examines the question whether deliberative democracy can be used to effectively stop the unprecedented contemporary mass migration caused mainly by internal conflicts or otherwise call the new wars. By complementing peace building strategies and deliberative democratic processes, I try to explain why peace has been rarely seen in present time, and what steps must be taken in order to make regimes more legitimate as well as build lasting peace. This project concludes that engaging in deliberative democratic processes of contesting discourse in the public sphere encourages citizens to embark on meaningful dialogue that is reciprocal.-
