Alternative Abstract
ABSTRACT There is a silent warfare being waged around the world. While the world powers may not readily admit so, this war has the likelihood of destroying the present generation. That war is the Cyber war. There exists a lacuna in the international arena on how to tackle this war occasioned by the usual suspicions between the West and East. While Europe has taken a bold attempt to address this monster and has managed to rope in The US, other parts of the world, including Eastern Europe and the Russian-Chinese axis are yet to be brought on board. Each nation is undertaking individualistic national legislation to address a war being waged in the virtual space and without an international approach to the hazard, this war will not be dealt with decisively as the crimes committed are trans-border and require the cooperation of all nations in order to close out all safe havens for the combatants, the cyber criminals. This work sought to examine how the mechanism that can be developed to achieve this goal and make the cyber space safe to serve its intended purpose. This will continue to be a work in progress because of the nature of the threat and war.
